Playa del Carmen. Who lives here and why?

Playa has grown a lot in the last 5 years but it is the people that make this town special.

Perhaps small city on de beach is a better description.

Your average citizen is Mexican middle class, many Americans, Canadians, Brazil, Argentine, loads of Italians who are slightly crazy and eccentric but so am I.Then we have a few Chinese, Germans, French, Polish, Ruskies and even Auzzies so there is a big melting pot as in a small New york city.

The night life is fast and diverse and thats what make Playa Playa. Food from every corner of the world and growing fast, Sushi has moved in and very popular  with over 10 outlets now.

Walking 5th ave is always interesting with constant life flowing and cool coffee bars but again its the mix and flavor of people that make life here A1.
If you look in a typical good area like Playacar with houses ranging from $500k to $2 mil, you may find a Brazilian family living next door to Canadians next door to a retired businessman from Italy beside a middle class American family beside a French writer and this is what makes Playa cool special and international.

New shopping malls to easily rival the USA, 18 new movie houses, we have arrived to compete with any nation or living standards.

Crime is not high at all, the beach is always there the winter winds are blowing now and I expect a record Winter season. My only complaint, too many traffic lights now but hey to go from one side of de city to the other takes 8 minutes so Im just whining, and I dont like so many cops but they cool...
